AI in polpol
There is AI in polpol. It helps shape what shows up at the start of each week and offers a brief acknowledgment when both of you have sent. Everywhere else, the writing is human.
The short version
Where AI helps
AI suggests starting points to spark the week and offers a brief warm acknowledgment when you both seal. It does not author your connection. The substance comes from you and your pol partner.
What AI sees
Only your connection. The AI working on you and your pol partner sees only your shared content. It has no view of your other connections, no view of anyone else's content, no profile that follows you across the product.
What AI does not do
It does not train on your writing. It does not decide anything about you. It does not score you, rank you, or build a personality profile. It does not see your contacts, your calendar, or anything outside polpol.
Voice notes
If you record a voice note, the audio is transcribed so the text can be included alongside the written answers. The audio file and the transcript are kept on the same schedule as the rest of your connection.
Can I turn it off
Not while staying in polpol. The AI assistance described above is part of the product by design. If you do not want AI involvement at all, the honest answer is that polpol is not the right product for you, and we will help you delete your account at hello@polpol.life.
The formal version
1. AI system disclosure (EU AI Act, Art. 50)
polpol uses generative AI to assist with text presented inside the weekly ritual and to maintain a private per-connection summary that keeps the experience in tune with your specific relationship. You are interacting with AI-generated content on those surfaces. This page constitutes the disclosure required under Article 50(1) for systems generating content directly intended to be read by a natural person.
2. Providers
polpol relies on third-party AI services for text generation and audio transcription. Our text generation provider is Anthropic. Our audio transcription providers are AssemblyAI and Groq. Provider selection is recorded in operational logs without pol content.
3. Scope of access
The AI working on your connection has access only to material from that connection and to the private per-connection summary. It does not have access to your other connections, other users' content, your auth credentials, billing data, your contacts, your device, or anything outside the connection it is serving.
4. Constraints
The AI inside polpol is constrained to a small set of supportive purposes. It is not asked to score or label either party, produce advice, or summarize you as a person. No automated decision-making takes place: nothing the AI produces gates access to features or affects your account.
5. Training
Your content is not used to train models. Anthropic is contractually bound under our commercial terms to not use API inputs or outputs for model training. Our transcription providers are configured for inference only. We do not build derived datasets from your writing for any third-party use.
6. Mistakes and limits
Generative AI can produce text that is fluent but inaccurate. If anything generated by polpol lands wrong, write to hello@polpol.life with the connection and the week and we will look at it.
7. Operational metrics
We track AI cost as an operational metric tied to anonymous connection identifiers. No personal data and no pol content is attached to those metrics.
8. Your rights specific to AI use
You can request the private summary the AI keeps about your connection. You can ask us to reset it, which discards the prior summary and rebuilds it from your subsequent cycles. You can delete your account, which severs the AI's view of your side of the connection. You cannot opt out of AI involvement while continuing to use polpol, because the assistance described above is part of the product by design.
9. Changes
When we materially change which providers are used, what the AI sees, or what it is asked to do, we update this page and, where the change is meaningful to you, notify you by email.
